The Municipality of Ipil lies on the 7’ 49’ North, 122’ 34 East part of Zamboanga Sibugay 7.8096, 122.5609. It has a vast land area of 1,107.79 hectares. It is bounded by the Municipalities Naga (on the northeast), Titay (on the northwest), R.T. Lim (on the southwest), and Sibugay bay on the southeastern part. Ipil is approximately 133 km from Pagadian city, and approximately 133 km from Zamboanga City. It is located in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay and serves as the seat of provincial capital comprising 28 barangays namely: Bacalan, Bangkerohan, Bulu-an, Caparan, Domandan, Don Andres, Dona Josefa, Guituan, Ipil Heights, Labi, logan, Lower Ipil Heights, Lower Taway, Lumbia, Maasin, Magdaup, Makilas, Pangi, Poblacion, Sanito, Suclema, Taway, Tenan, Tiayon, Timalang, Tomitom, Upper Pangi, and Veteran’s Village.

Barangay Suclema is one of the 28 Barangays of the Municipality of Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay. The barangay has a 3.5-kilometer distance from the center or población where the municipal hall stands. East of the barangay is bordered by Barangay Taway, in the West is Barangay Lumbia, on its North is Barangay Mate, and the South is bordered by Barangay Ipil Heights, and Barangay Veterans.

History of Suclema

The Barangay Suclema was formerly known as Lower Taway, the Barangay name was changed during the creation to Suclema in 1960, Suclema was derived from a combination of names prominent in the Municipality during that time, namely Sucgang, Clemenia, and Mamogay.

Barangay Suclema is one of the 28 barangays in the Municipality of Ipil. It is bounded on the North by Barangay Mate, Barangay Moalboal, on North-East Barangay Taway on the East, and Barangay Ipil-Heights on the South. Barangay Veterans Village lies in the South-West and its Western Boundary is hugged by Barangay Lumbia. IT has 3 parks and is approximately 5 kilometers away from the National Road and 5.5 Kilometers from the Diversion Road. It is accessible to all kinds of vehicles.


Barangay Suclema has an area of 1,107.80 hectares more or less. Most of this agricultural land is planted with rubber trees and coconut trees.

Barangay Suclema has a total population of 1,492 as of 2020, comprising 347 households.


It has a hilly landscape presently utilized by its citizens for residential and agricultural purposes. It has a normal climate that varies from rainy seasons on the months of June to November and dry seasons from December to May with the average temperature of 28'C. It is among the nearest Barangays to the Municipal Hall which is about 3.5 kilometers, and 138kms from the regional center. The nearest city, Zamboanga City is about 138 km.
