The Barangay Officials

As the basic political unit, the Barangay serves as the primary planning and implementing unit of government policies, plans, programs, projects, and activities in the community, and as a forum wherein the collective views of the people may be expressed, crystallized and considered, and where disputes may be amicably settled. -- Republic Act No. 7160, Local Government Code of 1991

The Barangay Officials of Suclema serve the Barangay as per terms and provisions provided for by Republic Act No. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991 and other pertinent laws. They are an extension of the Municipality on a smaller scale- to speak- to cater to the community's needs.

 

The Barangay Officials are composed of the Punong Barangay, seven (7) Sangguniang Barangay members, the Sangguniang Barangya chairman, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay treasurer.

 

There is also a Lupong Tagapamayapa, composed of the Punong Barangay as chairman and ten(10) to twenty (20) members; the main body involved in the arbitration of Barangay cases or concerns before reaching higher courts such as the Municipal Circuit Trial Court.
